XPLORER AOX/TOX

The XPLORER AOX/TOX is a microcoulometric combustion analyzer from TRACE (TE Instruments) for the rapid, precise determination of Adsorbable Organic Halogens (AOX), Extractable Organic Halogens (EOX) and Purgeable Organic Halogens (POX) in a wide range of liquid and solid matrices, including drinking water, wastewater, cooling and process water, effluent, pulp & paper, and sediment samples. The AOX, EOX and POX modules are easily interchangeable on the same platform.

High-throughput AOX analysis is enabled by a unique slider mechanism: the sample cup or frit simply falls into the boat under gravity before entering the horizontal furnace, and once the boat returns, the slider moves to an eject position where the used cup or frit is collected for reuse — avoiding any pile-up inside the furnace tube. The instrument has a compact footprint, a short start-up time of under 15 minutes, low maintenance requirements, and TEIS software with an intuitive interface; it can be extended with autosamplers (VECTRA, NEWTON, TUSCAN, XPREP-3, XPREP-A6) for high-volume, round-the-clock operation.

Most organic halogens found in nature are toxic, carcinogenic, persistent and bio-accumulative, which is why regulatory authorities worldwide set maximum permissible limits for these compounds in soil and water. The XPLORER AOX/TOX complies with the relevant international standards, including ASTM D4744, DIN 38409 series, EN 1485, EPA 9020B/9021/9023, ISO 11480 and 9562, GB/T 15959 and NEN 6401, and is used for routine screening and regulatory compliance testing in environmental and industrial laboratories.
