Elvatech Handheld Analyzers

Elvatech's portable XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analyzers let you determine the elemental composition of a sample in seconds, without cutting it, damaging it, or sending it to a lab. Point the device at a surface, and its built-in X-ray tube causes the sample's atoms to fluoresce; a detector reads that fluorescence and the onboard software reports the elements present, covering the full range from sodium to uranium in the periodic table.

The ProSpector 2 is a handheld EDXRF metal analyzer with a count rate above 500,000 CPS, automatic correction for pressure and temperature drift, more than 10 hours of battery operation, a protected detector, a large customizable alloy library, and ElvaX PC software for transferring results to a computer.

The ProSpector 3 is the newer generation: it weighs just 1.05 kg, is IP-67 waterproof and dustproof (it can even analyze underwater), automatically adjusts for small objects and spots (useful for jewelry testing), runs 16 hours on one charge, has a folding display for standalone operation, needs no manual calibration, and uses two CCD cameras for combined micro and macro sample viewing, with WiFi, Bluetooth, USB and a microSD slot.

The ElvaX Geo is built for mining and exploration: it analyzes unknown samples without manual calibration, reduces error on inhomogeneous geological samples, can be turned into a benchtop instrument with an optional stand, and supports GPS logging via Bluetooth in a watertight housing.

The ElvaX Mobile combines automatic pressure/temperature compensation with an integrated PDA for handheld operation, and can be fitted with an optional CCD camera for sample positioning and an optional sample spinner for more precise averaging.

Typical applications include alloy identification and positive material identification, RoHS and consumer-goods screening, archaeometry and art authentication, oil and fuel analysis, and soil and environmental screening — all with no meaningful damage to the sample and negligible radiation exposure to the operator.
